Ralph Munro Named Chairman and Kevin Brown Joins as Executive Vice President
Bellevue, WA - December 1, 2003 - RegisterHere, Inc. (www.RegisterHere.net), a leading global supplier of secure electronic voting technology, today announced the change of chairman of RegisterHere's board and an addition to their executive team. Ralph Munro, longtime Washington Secretary of State, was elected chairman to replace Admiral Bill Owens. Admiral Owens is leaving the RegisterHere board to join Daimler Chrysler's board of directors. Mr. Brown comes to RegisterHere with 25 years of experience in building technology companies, including more than six years with Visio.
"In the past three years, we've seen many changes in the voting technology industry, and I've enjoyed lending counsel and being a part of these transitions with RegisterHere," said Mr. Munro. "I am excited about this opportunity and hope, in my new role as chairman, I can provide even more support and guidance to the company."
Mr. Munro has been a member of the RegisterHere board since January of 2001. He served as Washington's Secretary of State from 1980 to 2000. During his tenure, he was instrumental in developing and implementing progressive plans to make voting more convenient for citizens and improving the administrative process for election officials.
Under Mr. Munro's leadership, Washington State saw significant advancement in state election services including absentee voting, voter registration, election reporting and voter information. Mr. Munro has also given his time and expertise to government, civic and volunteer organizations. He served as past president of the National Association of Secretaries of State; co-chaired the International Task Force of the Council of State Governments; was a trustee and member of the Federal Election Commission Clearinghouse Advisory Panel and the Commission on Voter Participation; and is a board member of the Orca Conservancy, the Squaxin Island Tribal Museum, and leads many more civic and environmental efforts, from saving the salmon runs in Washington's rivers to helping eradicate Polio in Africa.
"I'm excited to be joining such a stellar team," said Kevin Brown. "RegisterHere is doing very important work toward creating confidence in our election systems, and I'm proud to help achieve that goal." Kevin Brown comes to RegisterHere with 25 years of experience in starting and building technology companies. From 1993 to 1999 he was an executive at Visio, where he started when the company generated less than six million in revenue, and helped build it to almost $200M during his tenure. Microsoft acquired Visio for $1.5B in 2000. Mr. Brown has extensive international experience, having lived and worked for seven years in Europe and Asia.
"RegisterHere is extremely fortunate to have two great leaders moving RegisterHere forward down the path of election reform," said Jim Adler, President and CEO of RegisterHere. "Ralph's vast experience in elections and Kevin's track record of building global technology companies will be critical to RegisterHere's success."
